# 5. Unbundle SAFcE

SAFc can be unbundled into a usability tier 3 SAFcA and a [usability tier](https://docs.safcregistry.org/vi.-saf-certificates/unit-type-code#usability-tiers-for-safce) 2 SAFcE by selecting the SAFcAin the Holdings table and clicking <img src="https://739633845-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FMH7vIKhGMxAYDjFqJKSj%2Fuploads%2FMYmN3lMcd5Hk7o08d70K%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=6eb0edec-36a1-4ac2-8409-da8bf0ca8f0f" alt="" data-size="line">.

A confirmation message will appear requiring you to acknowledge the following:

I understand that by unbundling this Type 2 SAFcA:

• two new certificates will be created – a Type 3 SAFcA and a Type 2 SAFcE

• the resulting Type 3 SAFcA cannot be split or transferred in smaller amounts, 
and must be retired whole

• the Type 2 SAFcE can only be retired after the Type 3 SAFcA is retired
```

You can select the amount of SAFcE to unbundle based on the tonnes of SAF or CO2 equivalent.
